Day 1 - Friday 23rd October 2009

16.00 – 17.00 MuseumNext
A short introduction followed by a presentation by facilitators
Nina Simon and Jim Richardson on exciting participatory design projects from around the world.

17.00 – 17.30 Interactive introductions
A short exercise in getting to know each other.


17.30 – 18.30 Pitches and Questions
Attendees who have been selected to pitch an idea to the MuseumNext audience take to the stage, each will present their ‘wild idea’ in five minutes and with twenty slides.

18.30 – 21.00

Start work
Attendees form informal groups around the ‘wild ideas’ pitched in the previous session to brainstorm how these ideas could become reality.

Food and drink will provided to keep people going whilst they work.

21.00 – 22.00 Open Idea Sharing
Whole group discussion and sharing of new ideas generated through working session. Creation of unconference schedule.

22.00 Close for the evening

Day 2 - Saturday 24th October 2009

9.00 – 10.00 Participatory Design from Outside
Presentation by Nina Simon on design frameworks for participatory museum design.

10.00 – 13.00 Un-conference sessions
Three one-hour sessions (led by attendees) on topics pertaining to participatory museum experiences, innovation, and successfully implementing new ideas.

13.00 – 15.00 Back to work
Grab some food and continue developing the project ideas from the previous day’s pitches and brainstorming. Groups are challenged to come up with a presentation/exhibit of their concept by 15.00.

15.30 Presentations
The groups present back what they have developed in no more then ten minutes.

16.30 Closing address

17.00 Close
